Making the Most of Happiness

Moments of happiness make the adventures of life all the more worthwhile.

When I think of happiness many things come to mind. The small moments of laughter I share with my grandparents, or even something as simple as reading my favorite book.

Growing up with pets is by far the most rewarding, yet heartwrenching things in life that brings me the most joy.

After transferring to a new school last year it was a struggle to adjust to the new environment especially while taking my most difficult course load to date.

Stress and anxiety seemed to be inevitable once the school year began.

Come September after the passing of my childhood dog I can’t say this time was the most thrilling, but thankfully, by October, life began to settle down and something amazing was soon to come.

On Oct. 4, 2018, I got to bring home my eight-week-old puppy now named Koda.

He is now one years old and the most precious and most special animals I have ever come across.

He made everything better by just being there and was the perfect study buddy for the stress that finals week brings.

Family is another vital part of happiness.

My sister and I have countless memories from our childhood that we look back on now and get this feeling of nostalgia that can’t be replaced by anything else.

I must say that summers at my grandparent’s house are some of the best and most prevalent events in my memory.

I’ll never forget watching the countless World Cups at their house, when I used to play soccer and then going outside with my sister to practice all of the moves I had picked out of the games.

Louisa Necib was my favorite player at the time and running around the yard with my sister and yelling her name out as we played, pretending to be her, is so simple yet one of the happiest moments of my life.

Finding a significant place to hang out with a loved one and make memories is especially important as well.

My dad and I love to go to coffee shops and work on anything we have to complete, which is why the hunt for the perfect study place began.

I cannot tell you how many coffee shops we have been to or what each one is like, but I can recall the feeling of joy I got from just being there with my dad and enjoying our time together.

The music the coffee shop played, the ambiance, the food, and drinks all added to each and every experience and feeling of comfort when I was there.

I now realize that it is not so much as the place, but the people you are with and our own personal experiences that allow us to create our own nostalgia and sense of happiness unique to ourselves.

Happiness comes in every form and there is no magic formula or method that will work for each person.

Being happy is about being true to yourself and making the most of every situation no matter the circumstances.

Many of us try to focus on only the positive aspects of life, but I believe that we can only be truly happy when we reflect on all of our differences and challenges and change our mindset in order to have a more positive outlook on life as a whole.
